Two Finley volunteers were recognized for their individual service to Finley’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP). SHIIP was also recognized with a group award.

American Trust Announces New Appointment

Nick Schrup, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Trust & Savings Bank, announces the new appointment of Joseph R. McKenna. He has joined the bank as Second Vice President and Mortgage Loan Originator at the John F. Kennedy Rd. office. In his new position, he is responsible for originating residential purchase, refinance, and construction loans.

Loras College Students Awarded Delta Epsilon Sigma Honors

Two Loras College students have been honored by the scholastic honor society Delta Epsilon Sigma (DES) in its annual fellowship and scholarship competition. Micaela Mertens (’15) was awarded the Fitzgerald Fellowship, while Kaitlin Phillips (’16) (Hinckley, IL) won the Fitzgerald Scholarship from DES, named after the founder and first secretary-treasurer of DES, Reverend Edward A. Fitzgerald of Loras College.

Attorney Recently Elected to FDPS Board

Joshua Weidemann was recently elected to the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools (FDPS) Board of Directors. Josh is an attorney with O’Connor & Thomas, P.C. He is native to Dubuque and attended Audubon Elementary, Jefferson Middle, and Senior High School. Josh has served as a member of the Bryant Elementary site council for the past three years and also as a member of the District School Improvement Leadership Team.

New Staffer at Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) is pleased to announce that Katrina Neely Farren-Eller, Ph.D., joined the staff as Inclusive Dubuque coordinator. Farren-Eller will lead CFGD’s Inclusive Dubuque initiative, a local network of leaders from faith, labor, education, business, nonprofit, and government dedicated to advancing justice and social equity in our community. The network is currently in the process of building an equity profile to discover how diverse groups are affected by various systems in our community.

Neises Joins Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) is pleased to announce that Jason Neises joined the staff as Heart & Soul Coordinator. Neises will lead the effort to implement the Orton Family Foundation’s Community Heart & Soul™ community engagement method in CFGD’s six-county rural affiliate region, beginning with the pilot community of Monticello, IA. This work is supported by a two-year, $100,000 grant from the Orton Family Foundation as well as a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Community Development Initiative (RCDI) program.
