Dubuque Receives Financial Reporting Award for 27th Consecutive Year

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the City of Dubuque a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014. This is the 27th consecutive year the City of Dubuque has received this recognition.

Women’s Giving Circle Announces 2015 Grant Awards

On Thursday, June 4, members, guests and, nonprofit leaders gathered for the Annual Women's Giving Circle Gifts & Grants Celebration at the Dubuque Arboretum & Botanical Gardens. The Women’s Giving Circle received nine proposals this year and awarded three grants totaling $11,467.75.

Iowa Growth Trends in Women Owned Firms

Iowa has an estimated 73,300 women-owned firms, employing 52,800 and attributing to roughly $7,718,400,000 according to the fifth annual State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, commissioned by American Express OPEN, a comprehensive report analyzing the 1997, 2002, and 2007 data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s quinquennial business census, the Survey of Business Owners.

iJag Team from Dubuque’s Senior High School Wins Contest

Instructor Jenny Duffy attended the Community Foundation’s Block Party in February and started a conversation with Studio Works artist Jillayne Pinchuk. She was seeking an opportunity for a group of innovative teenagers to express themselves and learn about the community while building a banner for the annual iJAG contest. This discussion sparked additional conversations and very soon, the students began to take photographs, design a layout, learn new techniques, reclaim materials, and build not only a winning banner, but a story of success and collaboration as well.

Asbury Road Pavement Project

The City of Dubuque is conducting a pavement rehabilitation project on the section of Asbury Rd. between Matthew John Dr. and J.F. Kennedy Rd. The contractor, Iowa Erosion Control, Inc., began work in June.
