Dubuque has joined over 100 cities across the nation in accepting the “My Brother’s Keeper” Community Challenge. The initiative, launched this fall by President Obama, challenges communities to ensure that efforts to support youth in meeting their potential are effectively reaching those youth most at risk, particularly young men of color.

Dubuque Regional Airport 24th Perfect Compliance Record

The Dubuque Regional Airport received official notice of its 24th consecutive year perfect compliance with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 139. FAR Part 139 governs safety standards for airfield operations, safety, and maintenance at airports served by commercial airlines. The Dubuque airport meets or exceeds all federally mandated standards, rules, and policies which promote safety at all commercial airports. An FAA inspector evaluates the overall compliance in twenty-three separate categories.

Loras College Duhawks Record 190,000 Hours of Community Service

In commemoration of Loras College’s 175th anniversary celebration, the campus community set out to see how long it would take to record 175,000 hours of volunteer service through students, faculty, staff, and alumni this past year. Nineteen months later, nearly 192,000 hours of service were reported by over 1,400 Duhawks across the country.

Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) and its partnerships with area companies are helping to create new jobs in the advanced manufacturing job sector by connecting employers to the training funds and expertise they need to expand their workforce. In fact, the input of advanced manufacturing companies in the college’s district contributes to the development of training programs and curriculum at NICC.
