The Red Cross Announces Everyday Heroes

The American Red Cross of the Tri-States, along with corporate sponsors Dupaco Community Credit Union, KWWL, and Radio Dubuque stations (KAT-FM, KDTH, 97.3 The Rock, and The River), announce the winners of the Tenth Annual Everyday Heroes of the Tri-States. Sixteen Everyday Heroes were recognized for ten different acts of heroism and include people from Allamakee, Dubuque, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties in Iowa.

Students Promote the Benefits of Literacy by Giving Back

More than 230 books have arrived at St. Mark Community Center ready to be distributed to the students in the organization’s before, after and summer school programs. Each book was the result of an initiative sparked by Hempstead High School Special Education Teacher, Rachel Perry, and her students.

GEAR UP Iowa Announces $2,600 Renewable Scholarship

GEAR UP Iowa, a program administered by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (Iowa College Aid) and funded through a six-year federal Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant, announced the dollar amount for the scholarship component of its college access and readiness program. Eligible GEAR UP Iowa students will receive up to $2,600 each year, for up to four years, to attend the colleges of their choice.

Premier Bank Gains Regional Recognition for Mobile Check Deposit Product

Premier Bank recently launched “Premier Mobile Deposit,” an enhancement to their mobile banking application which allows clients to take a picture of a check and submit it to their account via smart phone. Products like this have been trending among “big banks” such as Bank of America and Citibank. Premier is pleased to level the playing field, embrace the technology and stay ahead of the curve in community banking technology. North Western Financial Review caught wind of Premier Bank’s newest product enhancement; they featured the bank in their latest issue in an article titled, “Is Smart Phone Next Branch for Community Banks?”

Export Growth Benefits Iowa Companies

The International Trade Administration (ITA) announced that new data shows Iowa merchandise exports increased 10 percent in 2012 compared to 2011, growing from $13.3 billion to $14.6 billion. This was a record high export level for the state. Iowa’s strong performance in 2012 helped the United States reach an all-time record for exports of U.S. goods and services, reaching $2.2 trillion in 2012 and supporting nearly 10 million American jobs.
