Greater Dubuque’s Workforce Solutions Receives Top International Award

Greater Dubuque Development’s Newcomer Services received a Silver Excellence in Economic Development Award in the human capital category for communities with populations of 25,000 – 200,000 at the International Economic Development Council Annual Conference. The event was held October 19-22 in Fort Worth, TX.

Applications Available for Education to Employment Grant Program

The Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council will distribute up to $11,000 in financial aid as part of its sixteenth annual Education to Employment Grant. Applications are now available and will be accepted through January 30. Recipients will be announced in April, with a recognition dinner in November. A second round of applications will be solicited from April through May.

NICC Student Veterans Receive Renewed American Legion Grant Funding

Renewed grant funding by the American Legion of Iowa will support scholarships for Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) student veterans for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Women’s Giving Circle Celebrates Seventh Annual Dinner

On Tuesday, October 14, 40 women gathered to reflect on a year of philanthropy, service, grantmaking, and growth at the seventh Women’s Giving Circle Annual Dinner. The Circle, which is organized through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD), started in 2006 when a group of women came together to discuss philanthropy and generosity. Today, 135 Circle members are united by the Circle’s mission to: share the joy of giving; build the ethic of living generously for future generations; and help members reach the most important needs in our community – together.

Alliant Credit Union Announces Merger

Alliant Credit Union (Dubuque, IA) and Three I Credit Union (Burlington, IA) announced that the two credit unions will merge, effective January 1, 2015. To complete the approval process, a special vote was completed on October 18, 2014 by Three I members. The vote passed unanimously in favor of the merge. Three I Credit Union will become Alliant Credit Union January 1, 2015.
